Founding Backend Engineer

About the Role

As our Founding Backend Engineer, you will build the core backend systems that power Acme AI. You will work on distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines and AI workflows at scale. This is a high-impact role with end-to-end ownership.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable, reliable and secure backend systems.
• Build RESTful / gRPC APIs and microservices.
• Work with databases, caches and message queues.
• Collaborate with AI/ML team to integrate models and pipelines.
• Own deployment, observability and performance.
• Make architecture decisions and drive technical excellence.

What we're looking for

• 3-6 years of experience in backend development.
• Strong in Java / Spring Boot.
• Experience with PostgreSQL / MySQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Kafka / Redis / AWS.
• Good understanding of system design and scalability.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML workflows.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Open source contributions.
